Owners commonly think that bad behaviors of animals recently adopted from the shelter result from "being abused". What I think happens is some dogs are treated like patio furniture, and get very little interaction with their human owners. These poor creatures have had very little socialization, and often act inappropriately because they do not know any better. I adoted my lab, Tucker from the shelter, and he was very scared of loud noises for a time. When the gardeners at my clinic blew too close to my vehicle, when Tucker was riding along on a quick trip to the clinic, he got scared and ate the headrests in my truck. Have you adopted pets with "quirkey behavior"
