My cats are, hmmm, less than responsive when it comes to brushing. In fact, they scream as if I am torturing them, (or at least Charlie does), but then stops the minute the brush leaves the...

The Philadelphia Zoo got some good news over the weekend - one of its tropical birds that had escaped during its "Festival of Flight" bird show, (hmmmmm, wonder how he managed to escape?) was...

Understanding your cat's purring...

I've usually been able to determine what the cats are looking for by their...

Hippo rescuer

I love the fact that the main guy in charge of the rescue efforts has helped over 180 stranded hippos over the period of six years. What a claim to fame!

Weird Descriptions..

Just what the hell does "cobby" mean when asked to describe what kind of cat body shape one prefers? Semi-cobby? Is this just another way of saying "stocky", or "prone to eating too much fish when...

No Man in the Moon for Conspiracy Theorists

Well, this has absolutely nothing to do with pets, but I still thought it is an interesting story.....

You know how while growing up, you would always hear about those people who were convinced that...

Dignity no more

Yeah....that one of the cat in the scuba outfit, while genius, had to be staged. Imagine trying to get cat legs into neoprene. Impossible!

Resistance is Futile

Just came across this new gallery this morning, a collection of photos of new animals born at zoos this year. I dare you to view this and not be struck with an "awwww" sensation, no matter how jaded...

Impossible but True...

This story older than what I usually post, but so odd that I had to put it up. It's a little sad, especially if you're a big fan of deer, but what this snake does is incredible.....

Check out the...

I live around the corner from the PAWS center here in the Chi, and think it's the best adoption center I've ever seen. I keep meaning to give it more of a highlight here on the site.

As far as...

Snakes and Children

I once helped chaperone a group of second-graders to the Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque, NM. The kids loved the place, but one asked what may have been the greatest child-to-guide question ever. ...

Takes up a lot of room..

I couldn't keep him out of the house, either. He seems to be a very good-natured sheep, and I bet he gets along well with other animals as well.

Great find, thanks for the post!

He bites, but I don't take it personally

Snake enthusiasts are some caring individuals. Snakes aren't furry or very (seemingly) affectionate, and one rarely describes them as "cute". Colorful or scary, maybe, but Hollywood made "Snakes on...
