Default Short faced dogs?

I came across this article today. Is it true that short faced dogs may suffer from more health problems?

How many of you have short faced dogs?

Examples of short faced dogs or brachycephalic dogs are pugs, bostons, bulldogs, and boxers. These dogs often have breathing problems because all the breathing apparatus that fit in long nosed dogs is stuffed in to a smaller throat space and sometimes doesn't fit too well. Because it takes intensive breeding to produce their body type, they often have more back, bowel, and allergy problems Boxers are known to have a much greater incicence of dangerous tumors.
