Default My Cat Losing Hair

Hi Dr. Greg,

I noticed my cat Kosmo (I'm fostering her) is losing more hair than usual. I have two cats but the other cat is perfect fine. When you pet her, you can see hair falling off and some white stuff like dandruff coming off her coat.

How can I treat this? How to prevent more hair loss?

I gave her a bath today and saw something like a tape worm on her anal area. How to treat this?

Thanks for your advice.

Flaky skin and a poor hair coat tells us that Kosmo needs more oils in the diet. Dry food does not have enough fat and oils for some cats. Some wet food, fish oil capsule, tuna, chicken and skin, salmon, or deli meat helps.
You can buy a tapeworm pill to get rid of those "rice grain" segments coming out of the rear end. Most store wormers are for roundworms. Make sure you buy one for tapes.
Fleas carry tapeworms. Check all animals for fleas and treat if necessary

She doesn't have fleas now but she had fleas before. They went to my garage a lot in the past and I let them out in the backyard. She played on the lawn. So I guess that was causing fleas.

We used Frontline. All fleas have been treated. But she has still worms. I will get the wormer today. Thanks a lot for your advice!
