Question Hamster Chewing on Bars

My hamster keeps chewing on the bars of her cage. I've tried giving her sticks and toys to chew on, and she'll chew for a minute but go back to the bars. Any advice?

Default Does she have a wheel?

Do you have a working wheel in the hamster cage? I know when my wheel would come off or not turn right my hamster would start chewing on the bars. Is the litter clean? Check those things and see if a quick fix is all it takes. Judy

She definitely has a wheel, she runs in it all night. Hmm, the bedding could probably stand to be changed....
Thanks!

Default Hope it gets better for you

I know I hooked up all sorts of clear plastic climbing bridges and tunnels for my hamster too -- she could climb and struggle through the verticle tunnels and run on the wheel -- I think she might just need more exercise and more challenges? I know mine did some chewing, but when I gave her more opportunities and a variety of things to climb on and through she quit chewing on the bars.

She probably is bored, she doesn't get out in the ball as often anymore because of all the dogs in the house. Poor little fuzzy, maybe it's time for a bigger, more fun cage!
