My cat likes to scratch on the chairs whenever he goes to the dining room. Now the chairs get really "fluffy". How to stop him? I put the scratching pad on the floor but it doesn't seem to work well. He likes the chairs.
He already has their scratching post in the room. Maybe I should get another one for the dining room.

My idea is to get a scratcher for the cat. You cannot really stop them as per my experience. It's just not their nature. I have 2 cat trees and a scratch pad so that they can scratch whenever needed. Make it handy for them.
You can put foil on the corners, use kitty facial pheromones, or a water bottle, but like honorine said it is really hard to break cats from scratching
